An employer’s obligation is to provide a hazard-free work environment that includes protecting employees from adverse consequences arising out of practical jokes or other activities commonly referred to as 'horseplay'. Horseplay is an on going, hard-to-control part of the everyday working environment and this type of behaviour can best be described as childish, infantile, and foolish in nature usually disrupting work of employees with the potential for personal injury. Horseplay should never be tolerated in the workplace and supervisors and managers have direct responsibility for controlling such behaviour. Employees found to have contributed to any adverse consequences, in particular an injury or worse, should be subject to disciplinary action.

Horseplay --- not a good idea.
Late in their shift, employees sometimes get a little bored with their jobs, so they try to liven things up with a little fun. However, fun can have its dangerous side. Horseplay is another matter as this usually involves practical jokes that could hurt somebody. Take an early stand…Point out that there are no 'harmless' practical jokes.
