Horseplay is a safety topic that is imperative to all types of industries, such as; Construction, Customer Service, Driving, Food/Package Goods, General Service, Health Care, Home Safety, Hospitality, Industrial /Manufacturing, Municipalities, Office Safety, Pharmaceutical/Bio Science, Retail, School Bus, Truck Driving, Utilities and Warehousing

An employer’s obligation is to provide a hazard-free work environment that includes protecting employees from adverse consequences arising out of practical jokes or other activities commonly referred to as 'horseplay'. Horseplay is an on going, hard-to-control part of the everyday working environment and this type of behaviour can best be described as childish, infantile, and foolish in nature usually disrupting work of employees with the potential for personal injury. Horseplay should never be tolerated in the workplace and supervisors and managers have direct responsibility for controlling such behaviour. Employees found to have contributed to any adverse consequences, in particular an injury or worse, should be subject to disciplinary action.
