When industries use highly hazardous chemicals that are not properly controlled, it provides the potential for an accidental release of toxic, reactive, or flammable liquids and gases, which at any time could lead to a major industrial disaster.
Safety standards should ensure competent management of highly hazardous chemicals is in place, together with a comprehensive program that integrates technologies, procedures, and management practices.
Employees must be trained in an overview of the controlled processes and the correct operating procedures. This training must emphasize specific health dangers, emergency operations and safe work practices. While employees may have the required safety skills and abilities, it is recommended they undergo refresher training, at least every three years.
If practice makes perfect… practice safety.
